Hello! 🙂 My name is Sophia Rogers, and I am a 4th-year Ph.D. student in the Psychology program at UC Davis. I work with the voles on the "Seavole" side of the Bales Lab.
I graduated from UC Riverside in Spring 2021, where I was part of the Higham Lab studying biomechanics. My undergraduate research focused on the locomotion of the web-footed gecko Pachydactylus rangei. Shortly after graduating, I joined the Bales Lab to explore my research interests, which include pair-bonding, adult social relationships, and the effects of prenatal exposures on development. My current project investigates the behavioral consequences of prenatal THC exposure in prairie voles (Microtus ochrogaster).
In addition to my research, I am actively involved in outreach and mentorship. I participate in programs like UC Davis Access Grads, the Graduate Peer Support Mentorship Program, and the Society of Behavioral Neuroendocrinology’s Online Research Symposium committee, where I work to support students from diverse backgrounds.
Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions!
